Cressing Temple Barns in Braintree Essex consists of a number of remarakble farm buildings, tow of the finest Templar barns in Europe, a Templar Well and Tudor walled gardens. Cressing Temple is one of Essex's ancient monuments and has origins in the 12th Century when it was the first land grant given to the Knights Templar. Cressing Temple Barns is owned by Essex Country Council and is open to the public at selected times during the year and offers attactive surroundings, conference facilities and extensive parking.

Winter Opening Times: January to end of February
The site is free to enter between these dates. Cressing Temple grounds, gardens and gift shop are open to the public Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm. Please note that during the winter the buildings are closed for cleaning and maintenance. The Templars' Tea Room is also closed for the winter. Hot drinks and biscuits are still available in the shop.
Spring & Summer Opening Times: From the 1st of March 2009 to the end of October 2009
the site will be fully open every day except Saturday 10am – 5pm.

Cressing Temple Templar's Tea Room Opening Times
The Templar's Tea Room will be open each Sunday in March and then each day listed through to the end of October 2009. We look forward to seeing you. Sunday: 11.00 am til 4.30 pm. Monday to Friday: 11.00 am til 4.00 pm. Food is available between 12.00 noon & 3.00 pm.
Cressing Temple Barns - A favourite Wedding Venue
The Wheat Barn and/or the Barley Barn are available for hire for your wedding ceremony. Each barn has a church-length aisle. The Wheat Barn was built by the Knights Templar Circa 1256AD and can accommodate up to 120 guests. The Barley Barn is the larger of the two barns and was built Circa. 1206 AD, is the oldest timber-framed barn in the world and can accommodate more than 250 guests. in a beautiful countryside setting, these two spectacular thirteenth century barns at Cressing Temple are a wonderful venue for civil wedding ceremonies. The beautiful Cressing Temple Tudor Walled Garden can be used as a stunning backdrop for photographs, especially the arbour and viewing terrace.
